The basic idea of the class is that each student is undertaking an (officially recognized) independent study project on a similar theme. This means that, through McGill University, each of us is getting credit that will go on our transcripts. Throughout the term, we will come together regularly in order to share knowledge and discuss our research. This collective aspect of the class is not officially recognized by the university, but for us it is a key part of the project.
The class is being held twice a week on the McGill campus in Montreal, starting the week of September 8, 2008 and running until December. Each Friday class is an “open” class, to which anyone who is interested is warmly invited to join us for our discussion — you by no means have to be a student to join us! We meet in Conference Room 3 of the AUS Lounge, in the basement of the Leacock building, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. of Fridays. If you are not a McGill Arts student, please contact us in advance so we can be sure to be at the door to let you in, or so that we can make alternative space arrangements.
